    Jeg var beæret denne sidste uge, da jeg blev bedt om et interview med Eric Enge www.stonetemple.com/blog/.

      Jeg gjorde mit bedste for at prøve at tilføje værdi til Eric's websted og gode navn som et tegn på min påskønnelse, og jeg vil bestemt ikke ønsker at gøre noget for at stjæle hans torden. Men jeg er klar over, at hans læsere er ikke nødvendigvis mine læsere, og der var ét spørgsmål i særdeleshed, at jeg ønskede at sikre sig og dele med mine læsere.

    Så jeg håber, jeg ikke bryde nogen form for hemmelige blogger's kodeks for etikette ved at udgive en ud af de 10 spørgsmål, jeg besvarede for Eric. Hvis jeg jeg undskylder.

    Spørgsmål om ugen fra den 20 mai, 2008

      Du har gjort online-trafik udvikling og link bygningen for lang tid guru. Hvordan har det udviklet sig over årene?

     

    Ja, jeg har gjort det i lang tid og jeg er taknemmelig.

    Jeg kan ikke se trafik generation har udviklet sig så meget, da jeg først begyndte at fokusere på at køre kunder til min butikker i de 70's. Selvfølgelig teknologi har tilbudt alternative midler til ophør, men trafikken generation dengang og nu har altid været om:

    Fik en idé til, eller finde et behov eller ønske om, et produkt eller en service.

    Gør forskningen til at afgøre, markedets størrelse, efterspørgsel, pris, indtjening potentiale og konkurrence.

    Indstille en objektiv og udvikle en strategi baseret på konkurrencemæssige analyse, SWOTs, (styrker, svagheder, muligheder og trusler), og disponible kapital.

    Udfør den strategi og se tallene.

    Link bygning er en hest i en anden farve.


          Tilbage i den sene del af det 20 århundrede, links var strengt, kun udelukkende for at dirigere trafikken til steder, du troede dine besøgende skulle tro var cool. Alle sammen ud hele tiden uden bagtanke andet end at hjælpe folk med at finde ting webmasteren syntes var cool. Selvfølgelig en grund folk sammen, så frit er fordi søgemaskiner temmelig meget suget og var langt fra at være skalerbar. Links var de dominerer internettet og ikke søgemaskiner.

    Det er ikke at sige, at der var nogen forbindelse spam. Alle andre gamle nok til at huske gæst bøger? Jeg kan endda huske et tidspunkt, hvor en grundlæggende hjemmeside tilbyder skulle omfatte en questbook script som 5 eller 6 forudsætning sider.

    Da disse begyndte at gå op, her kom Viagra-annoncer. Åh vent, der var ikke sådan noget som Viagra dengang. Mænd med ED var overladt til at stole på mirakler af penis pumper og vedhæfter bungee snore med lodder i den ene ende til deres lille medlemmer. Så jeg har hørt.

    Men pointen er, var der ingen mangel på gæstebogen stillinger fortælle besøgende om webadresser for boliglån, backup-software, web-hosting, etc, etc, etc. din have forskellige præ-Viagra, præ-sideplacering link spam.

    Alligevel er disse drive-by fruitings stadig kun havde at gøre med at stjæle direkte trafik og havde intet at gøre med at forsøge at påvirke enhver søgemaskine.

    Disse typer links, (eller nogen andre forbindelser for den sags skyld), havde ingen effekt på søgemaskinerne fordi ingen søgemaskine på det tidspunkt var benytter andet end on-site algoritmer for at fastslå deres relevans og placering. Det var vidunderligt i en aldrig vil skære den slags måde.

    Med alle de store på det tidspunkt, Infoseek, Excite, Alta Vista, Lycos, Hot Bot, webcrawler, og lignende, det tog lidt mere end 45 minutter og en meta refresh-tag til en sikker top 10 placeringer. En blinde, døve abe med en arm kunne gøre det. Gjorde jeg nævner det var vidunderligt?

    Tja, vi alle vidste, det kunne ikke vare evigt. Især de søgemaskiner og mig.

    Så i de tidlige dage af det 21 århundrede (efter vi alle indset, at verden ville ikke ende på grund af Y2K), jeg begyndte at mærke nogle mærkelige ting sker med toppen søgemaskine du jour, Alta Vista. I modsætning til populære misforståelse, Google var ikke den første til at indarbejde links i algoritme, de var bare meget bedre på at oprette hardware til at håndtere belastningsjustering, (og naturligvis public relations), end CMGI http://en.wikipedia.org / wiki / AltaVista.

    Men det var indlysende, at alle havde accepteret den webstedsoptimering alene ikke var et tegn på kvalitet eller relevans kontrollerbar med automatiske programmer, og at indgående links skulle være det næste skridt i søgningen efter en skalerbar løsning.

    Så kom Google og værktøjslinje og deres ekstraordinære salgsfremmende færdigheder. Pludselig dirigere trafikken blev en sekundær overvejelse bag Google SERP placering. Så kom den SearchKing vs Google-ting og betalte link industrien blev født. Dagen efter Google's krig mod de betalte links industrien blev født.

    Derefter gik vi gennem "en PR 7 slå en PR 6". Dette skib er sejlet.

    Så gik vi igennem ", hvis 1 link er godt, derefter 3 millioner skal være bedre, blog bemærkning spamming" æra. Dette skib er stadig synligt i horisonten, men det er svindende hurtigt. Good riddance!

    Så kommer vi til "tillid rang". PR er bare om så brugbar som en tredje saddel på en Harley dag og et link, der giver mening, som sidder på en PR 1 vil flytte et mål websted hurtigere end en PR 7 side som en liste over 300 "ressourcer" <ekstreme sarkastisk tone stiltiende ved kursiv <

    Nu er vi vidne til en ny vinden begynder at blæse, og jeg tror, det vil være det næste skridt i udviklingen af den søgen efter den perfekte algoritme. Personalisering.

    Jeg tror, vi oplever accept, (ikke det samme som optagelse), af det faktum, at brug af links til at afgøre, relevans og placering er bedre end på stedet alene, men det er langt fra Fejlen gratis. Bundlinje, det virker ikke.

    Nu tror jeg, fremtiden er i at spore der du er, hvad du mener og hvordan man handler som reaktion på online-oplevelser at afgøre tillid til dig i forbindelse med et bestemt emne eller endda forespørgslen vil erstatte PR som den afgørende faktor for der går oven for, hvad søgestreng.

    Question for the Week of April 25th, 2008

    The question came up over at Web Pro World about what to do when you run out of link building ideas. Among the usual comments about writing articles and news release was this from Peter (IMC):

    "Link building is just a technical term that shouldn't be a real objective."

                                                                                                                                      
    He goes on to say that people should concentrate on marketing and forget link building. That may be fine in the long run, but some sites can't wait that long. Is link building still a viable way of moving a site quickly? What are your suggestions?

    I can not imagine how one could run out of link building ideas in one’s own lifetime. There are a lot of people putting up a lot of content all over the globe every second of every day and, there is one thing as much as any other they ALL want. Do you know what that thing is? LINKS!

     If you EVER feel you have run out of link building ideas, you need to step into the restroom, grab hold of yourself and jerk yourself back to reality. You’re problem lies in one of two areas and neither of them is the lack of available links. Either your purpose or your execution is the problem.

    You may run out of ideas to get links to spam google or to increase your page rank but that is a problem with objectives and not with whether there are links available.

    In the Guru’s experience, often when people say they don’t know how to get more links, they actually know a lot of ways to get them but they lack the resources or motivation to actually develop a plan and execute it.

    The reality is, the link ideas are there, but is it worth the effort and the resources to get them to meet your objective at the time.

    I’ve been reading Peter’s posts in a lot of industry communities for many years. He’s one of those people who have been in the industry almost as long as the Guru and staying in business  for 10 years + means making choices and being right a lot more often than you’re wrong .  Longevity aside, Peter is one smart cookie http://www.seo-works.com/blog/, and I appreciate that he actually “thinks” about what he says and is usually well equipped to defend whatever position he takes.

    Keeping in mind that the quote above was taken out of context, I would say he’s right. Peter went on to say:

    “By calling it "link building" you´re limiting yourself because you´re actually doing that,... building links.”

    And

    “If you think about all the possibilities when you call it marketing it becomes a whole different world, doesn't it?”

    So it’s clear that Peter does understand the value of links but I believe his point is close to the Guru’s above. That is, if you can start seeing it as a marketing objective as opposed to a ‘get a link so I can be in the serps” objective, you’ll get farther faster and with less expense.

    We have Guru concurrence with that point. I believe placement without conversions is the epitome of futility, and it looks like Peter feels pretty much the same way.

    Is link building still a viable way of moving a site quickly

    If we are speaking organically, then --  It is the ONLY way.

    You can generate content until the letters rub off the keyboard and without a link, no one knows about it but you. Unless of course you market it some other way than with organic search engine placements. BUT, it is virtually impossible to do that without getting links. You market – you get links.

    What are your suggestions?

    Honestly answer this question for me first.

    What do you REALLY want? A higher page rank, a top 5 position for your keyword on Google, more traffic from links or to make more sales at a higher profit?

    If you said any of the first three, your problem is over. Just go buy it. Set a budget and go spend it all on links that will do any of those three things.

    Buying, (or renting), high PR links, the green on the toolbar will scroll to the right. Could take a while but it will.

    Rent links but don’t make Google look stupid, (article), by putting up content hosted pages (define content hosted pages),on places where your page makes sense and your site will move up.

    PPC and a little intestinal fortitude and you could be right on the top of all those organic results by tomorrow.

    But if what you REALLY want is to make more money, then realize that links are merely a means to an end and that end is sales. And always remember

    Some of you will roll your eyes. Some may ridicule and some may even laugh.
